- Notes: As part of the Interactive Arts Performance Series: Izzi Ramkissoon and Dafna Naphtali, have been performing as a duo and developing a musical language using their custom-made electronics setups, and mining the overlap of musical interest and background. Over a number of years, both performers have been working on developing a unique electro-acoustic language blending various media to perform a variety of interactive, improvisatory, and experimental works. For this performance of Modular Species they are joined by Luis Tabuenca, percussionist/composer from Spain, a recent collaborator working with Dafna’s live sound processing project, and who is in residence this Spring at NYU (FAS Music). The composition incorporates a written score separated into modular parts for the performer to assemble in a range of ways specified in the instructions. Each performance varies in degree depending on the choices made by the ensemble performing the piece. The written score incorporates graphic notation, contours, and traditional notation. Also on the bill are Cadillac Moon Ensemble, Bent Frequency duo, and pieces by Christian Wolff, Corte Lippe and others.
