vest: voice/electronics/sound//text
A first time trio performance by three formidable musicians working with voice, electronics, sound, and text in various and overlapping ways. Expect outrageous adventures into vocal sound and sound manipulation, expect unexpected forays into inner dialogues and expect intense interaction.
Notes:“Interactive Sound: Techniques and Practice”
The course focuses on various ways interactive sound is and has been used in performance, sound installations and other interactive public exhibitions and interventions. We will look at artists and projects that use live audio processing of sound, music and voice through triggering of audio cues, loop pieces, score following; multi-channel interactive sound works and live performance. You will learn about the basics of psychoacoustics, and new stratetgies for listening, thinking about (and creating with) audio, and create your own works as a final project. Because of my background as a performer/composer in this field, I can give a unique focus and perspective on incorporating live sound processing, the human voice, and musical structure into interactive audio projects that you will create.

Hans Tammen – analog modular synth
mechanique(s) is an ongoing collaboration between Dafna Naphtali and Hans Tammen involving live electronics, sound processing, analog modular synth and voice. The duo formed in the late 90′s to investigate the overlap of various elements of their technical and aesthetic practices — in compositions and improvisational settings for Naphtali’s interactive processed sound/noise system and Tammen’s custom analog modular synth built around chaotic behaviors.
